We leave Nanchang tomorrow and as much as we are ready to get to Guangzhou, we are sad that this is our last night in Reed's province. Reed was born in Xinyu city, Jiangxi, which is about a two and a half hour drive from here. Our baby boy is just as precious as ever and today revealed just how hard this is going to be for him. He was taking his nap and started crying and screaming uncontrollably. This lasted for an hour before he finally calmed down. It breaks my heart that he is hurting and I hope he is able to trust us enough to grieve and heal the pain.

Hi Tina,
That is so sad to hear. LilyRose was fine while we were in China. It was when we got home that she had issues. She was really sad for about a week and that was it. She never looked back. I hope we don't have it to bad with Mason. I am sure Reed will be fine soon.
Have fun in GZ, you are gonna love it. Very peaceful and relaxing. I can't wait to go back.
Good Luck.

I don't say this loosely...I know how to pray for you as Emma Jane grieved for a long long time and still is ever so often. It is not just grief in my opinion but also a spiritual battle....I am here for you if you need me when you get home.
Love you guys and have FUN in Guangzhou...the food is good...the shopping is awesome! If you have a chance go by Susan's Place and give Susan a big hug from Greg Byrd and his family! Love you!
Even though it is sad now, it will be a very happy time very soon!! All babies have trouble adjusting to the world when they're born and as they grow they have other things to adjust to. Children are very resilient. The dictionary defines resilient as: : tending to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change. Going from the orphanage to a loving home with two parents, as wonderful as that is, is still change. Reed will adjust and be fine. And he will love you as much as you love him!! Keep the faith and enjoy your precious and beautiful son! That picture of Tim and Reed is just too precious for words! Each picture you have posted shows how much you love this precious gift from God. Hang in there! Parenting is a huge challenge but the most rewarding career you can have! Congratulations and love to you all!!

Just want you to know we are praying for comfort for Reed and for both of you as well. Life is full of change and children adapt differently and can sometimes make us feel so guilty if we think they are hurting. But as parents we know that change is inevitable and so often necessary for health and welfare. So many children aren't as fortunate as Reed. Their changes are negative such as divorce or loss of a parent. Reed's changes are so positive and will enrich his life more than his little mind will understand for many, many years. Try not to let it pull you down. You are phenomenal and Reed is so blessed to have you in his life. God will get you all through this and life will be better than ever before! We love you.
Oh Tim & Tina;
My heart breaks for you and Reed. The GREATEST thing I can do you you all is to pray peace for Reed. And to pray for how hard this hurts your heart to see him this way. I don't have any advice because I am still waiting my turn for all this. But the only advice I can give is to listen to all these wonderful people who have been through this already. Time will heel. It's just working through this time that's hard. You all are in our hearts and prayers.
We love & miss you!

If I tell you I'm glad he's grieving, don't take it amiss, it just means that he can form bonds and that grieving the loss of them means he can make strong new ones.
Although it's hard on your ears, try holding it tight and snuggling baby style with him and saying MaMa he (soft e) Baba yow knee, and saying Mama he Baba eye knee. It means Mom and Dad want you and love you. These were magic words for Acer as he thought the orphanage didn't want him, after they took him from his foster mother. He even told the guides that. As he falls asleep now he'll still say - do MaMa and BaBa love you forever? almost two years later.
We still use that hold when he's really upset and sobbing, we tell him that we can handle it and to give the uglies to us. We even 'take' uglies out of his eyes, ears, toes, where ever until Acer says all his uglies are out.
Prayers of thanks for your blessings!

Dear Tina,
We have been following your blog from Montgomery, AL. We are The Moss family and we are friends of Becky Smith and Monica Carter. We adopted a boy from China in November of 2007. Boys are indeed very precious and do make happy families! We pray the Reed's grieving will get better soon. It is a good sign because you know that he will also form an attachment to you and Tim. God Bless each of you!
Def a needed step but oh so difficult to watch as parents.
